BRS MLC Sravan Dasoju demands withdrawal of GO 46 on BC reservations

BRS MLC Sravan Dasoju has strongly criticised the Telangana government’s GO Ms. No. 46 on BC reservations in local bodies, calling it unconstitutional and fraudulent. He highlighted contradictions in the order, which uses SEEEPC Survey data for ward reservations but relies on the 2011 Census for Sarpanch posts, allegedly violating Article 243D.

Hyderabad: Terming the newly issued GO Ms. No. 46 on BC reservations in local bodies a cruel joke involving constitutional violation, Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC Sravan Dasoju on Saturday demanded its immediate withdrawal. He said the State government had deliberately betrayed Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Highlighting glaring contradictions in the order, he pointed out that while reservations for ward members were based on the SEEEPC Survey, reservations for the posts of Sarpanch were based on the 2011 Census data. He questioned the legal and constitutional validity of using two different population sources in the same order, violating Article 243D of the Constitution that mandates use of the latest published Census.

The BRS leader alleged that a mysterious ‘Dedicated Commission’ report dated November 20, cited in the GO, was neither made public nor its composition revealed, raising suspicions of data manipulation to distort reservations or postpone local body elections.

He also criticised the Panchayat Raj Department for issuing the GO instead of the BC Welfare Department and accused the government of administrative chaos and a deeper conspiracy to evade elections while misleading marginalised communities.

Demanding immediate withdrawal of GO 46, besides full disclosure of the commission report and restoration of constitutional norms, Sravan warned that the order symbolises ‘fraudulent governance’ and betrayal of Telangana’s people.
