  • T’gana caste survey: 89,000 child labourers exist in state, mostly from SC, ST

    A Telangana SEEEPC survey revealed about 89,000 children are engaged in daily wage work, highlighting severe economic inequality across caste groups. The study by the Telangana government shows higher incidence among SC and ST communities
  • Telangana caste survey shows 135 communities more backward than state average

    An expert group led by Justice B Sudershan Reddy analysed the Telangana caste survey (SEEEPC 2024) and found that 135 of 242 castes are more backward than the state’s average Comprehensive Backwardness Index score of 81. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are three times more backward than General Castes, while Backward Classes are 2.7 times more backward.
  • Telangana govt publishes comprehensive caste survey data

    The Telangana government has released the findings of its 2024-25 caste survey, covering 1.12 crore families and 3.55 crore people. State Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced that the data is now available on the planning department’s website.
