BRS one-lakh signature campaign boosts SCB merger issue momentum
BRS has launched a signature campaign seeking the merger of Cantonment Board civil areas with GHMC. Party workers collected signatures in Rasoolpura, while leaders plan protests and parliamentary action to press for resolution of the long-pending issue.

Hyderabad: A day after the BRS launched a campaign to collect one lakh signatures seeking the excision of Cantonment Board civil areas and their merger into the GHMC, party cadre and supporters on Thursday took part in the drive and collected signatures from Cantonment residents at Rasoolpura, described as the second largest slum-cum-residential area in the country in terms of geography.
The BRS working president, KT Rama Rao, had signed the first signature and took the lead in the signature campaign.
BRS spokesperson Manne Krishank said the party cadre and supporters were actively involved in the campaign and added, “We have prepared a format which contains name, area and residence, signature, and mobile number of those joining the campaign.”
“After completion of the campaign, BRS will send these signatures to the Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, and also to the Malkajgiri MP, Etala Rajender,” he said.
Meanwhile, Cantonment Congress MLA, N Sri Ganesh, who recently took up a hunger strike, is now gearing up to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. On the other hand, the Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender is learnt to be preparing to raise the issue during the Budget sessions in the Parliament.
