BRS seeks Assembly debate on Formula-E race allegations by Congress

"The Congress government has been spreading false accusations against the previous BRS government, especially targeting me, over the Formula-E race. Reports indicate that this matter was discussed for more than an hour in a recent cabinet meeting. Leaks from the Chief Minister’s office suggest that cases are being prepared against our party working president, KT Rama Rao, with the Governor's approval," the BRS stated.

Hyderabad: The BRS on Wednesday submitted a representation to Speaker Gaddam Prasad, urging a debate in the Assembly on the allegations surrounding the Formula-E race. Charging the Congress government of spreading baseless propaganda, the BRS legislators said a detailed discussion in the legislature would reveal the facts to the public.

“The Congress government has been making false accusations against the previous BRS government, particularly me, regarding the Formula-E race. Reports suggest that this issue was discussed for over an hour during a recent cabinet meeting. Leaks from the Chief Minister’s office claim that cases are being planned against our party working president KT Rama Rao, with the Governor’s approval,” the BRS stated.

Highlighting the economic impact of the event, the BRS MLAs said the Formula-E race held in 2023 boosted Telangana’s economy by Rs 700 crore, as confirmed by Nielsen’s report. Despite its success, the Congress government unilaterally canceled the 2024 event and has since been spreading misinformation, he observed.

He reiterated that the agreement and payments for the race were transparent and charged the Congress government with engaging in political propaganda to tarnish the BRS’s image. “Rather than debating this behind closed doors, let us discuss it openly in the Assembly for the people to know the truth,” he urged.

Requesting the Speaker to schedule the debate during the ongoing session, Rama Rao asserted that there was no manipulation or corruption in this matter.

“The Congress government’s actions have harmed an initiative beneficial to Telangana especially Hyderabad in the global market,” he asserted.
