The BRS on Monday sought the immediate disqualification of 10 MLAs who defected to Congress. With the Speaker unavailable for their scheduled meeting, the MLAs submitted a petition at the Assembly and accused him of evading constitutional responsibility despite the Supreme Court directive.
The session started with BRS MLAs urging the Speaker to address the Formula-E issue before discussing the Bhu Bharati Bill. Senior BRS leader T Harish Rao took the opportunity to criticize the Congress government for making unfounded corruption allegations against former Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao and the previous BRS government. "If the government is sincere and courageous, let’s have an open discussion and let the facts come out," he stated.
BRS Legislative Party lodged a complaint to Speaker Gaddam Prasad against Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy for making derogatory remarks about former Minister and senior MLA T Harish Rao during the Question Hour in the Assembly on Wednesday.
"The Congress government has been spreading false accusations against the previous BRS government, especially targeting me, over the Formula-E race. Reports indicate that this matter was discussed for more than an hour in a recent cabinet meeting. Leaks from the Chief Minister’s office suggest that cases are being prepared against our party working president, KT Rama Rao, with the Governor's approval," the BRS stated.
Addressing the party cadre in Ramachandrapuram in the Patancheru assembly segment, Harish Rao said the BRS would take the fight against defectors to the Supreme Court if needed to get them disqualified.
Speaking on the occasion, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said the Congress government has been systematically infringing on the rights of opposition MLAs and deliberately undermining the protocol.
In an open letter, Rama Rao said ever since the Congress came to power, there was a deliberate effort to undermine the protocol and rights of BRS MLAs.
