Hyderabad: Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council S Madhusudana Chary said the Congress government betrayed BCs and failed to implement the promised 42 per cent reservation in local bodies. The Congress was misleading Hyderabad’s voters, he said, urging the people to punish the party in the Jubilee Hills by-election.

At a press meet in Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, Madhusudhana Chary said the Congress had promised 42 percent reservation for BCs in local bodies and pledged Rs 20,000 crore a year for BC welfare, but failed to deliver them. He argued that 42 percent reservation cannot be implemented without a constitutional amendment and called for pressure at the Centre to secure the quota.
