Hyderabad: Senior BRS leaders mounted a blistering attack on Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari, who defected to the ruling Congress, accusing him of indulging in opportunistic politics.
BRS MLC Pochampally Srinivas Reddy said Srihari’s claim of joining Congress for development was a mockery of public intelligence. He demanded that Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar immediately disqualify him.
“For 10 years under BRS rule, he served as Deputy Chief Minister, Minister, MLA and MLC, where he laid foundation stones and inaugurated projects. Now, he is insulting the very same development for personal gain,” he said.
Terming Srihari a political opportunist chasing positions, he challenged him to resign and seek a fresh mandate.
“If Rahul Gandhi truly respects democracy, he should make all defected BRS MLAs resign and face by-elections,” he dared, accusing the Congress of buying opposition MLAs like cattle.
At a separate press meet at Telangana Bhavan, BRS leader A Rakesh Reddy termed Srihari as a venomous viper who switched loyalties to save himself from legal troubles.
“KCR gave him opportunities at every stage, even an MP ticket for his daughter. Yet, he betrayed both the party and the people who elected him,” he said, urging the Speaker to weed out defectors through disqualification, stating that people of Station Ghanpur were ready for revolt against Srihari.
