BRS slams Revanth Reddy over neglect of flood-hit farmers in Yellareddy

Former MLA Jajula Surender and BRS leaders criticised CM Revanth Reddy for ignoring farmers' distress in flood-hit Yellareddy. They demanded Rs 1 lakh per acre relief, free fertilisers, and condemned his remarks comparing farmers in urea queues to people waiting for tickets.

Hyderabad: Former MLA Jajula Surender slammed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for ignoring farmers’ distress in flood-hit Yellareddy constituency of Kamareddy district during his visit. On behalf of the BRS, he demanded Rs 1 lakh per acre compensation for crop loss and free fertilisers for the Yasangi (Rabi) crop.

Addressing a press meet at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, Surender said that nine days after the floods, breached tanks remain unrepaired, 20,000 acres of crops lie damaged, and 18,000 farmers are facing crop loss. “Yet, the Chief Minister only inspected a bridge, while ignoring the real damage,” he said.


He alleged that the Chief Minister was more interested in photo-ops than in providing relief. “During KCR’s rule, officials acted within hours, but today farmers wait helplessly,” he added. He also stated that BRS leaders, including himself, were placed under house arrest ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit, preventing them from raising local issues.

BRS leader Doodimetla Balaraj Yadav lashed out at the Chief Minister for comparing farmers standing in queues for urea with people waiting for tickets. “This is an insult to farmers who are struggling for urea to sustain their crops,” he charged. He warned that if immediate relief is not provided, the BRS will join farmers in their protests.
