Hyderabad: The Kukatpally police arrested BRS official spokesperson Manne Krishank late Thursday night from his residence in Secunderabad Cantonment area, following a complaint by a Congress social media co-ordinator alleging trespassing, intimidation and assault.

According to police, an FIR has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 333, 118(1), 308(5), 191(2), 351(2), and 189 read with 190.  TPCC social media co-ordinator Gundamalla Rajendra Kumar filed the case alleging that Krishank trespassed into his residence and attacked him over a social media post on Thursday.

Speaking to the media while being taken into custody, Krishank alleged that the Congress government was targeting him for exposing alleged irregularities involving senior Ministers. He claimed the arrest was part of a political vendetta and said he would challenge the case legally.

Nearly 30 cases were filed against him by the Congress leaders for raising multiple issues against the Congress government, and the BRS leaders accused the government of using police action to silence opposition voices.

Sources said Rajender posted a morphed news clipping of a vernacular newspaper accusing Krishank and his wife of cheating unemployed youth, following which Krishank confronted him at his residence in Dayarguda on Thursday afternoon. He reportedly questioned Rajender to show evidence for his false claims or remove the post and apologise. A heated argument is said to have ensued, following which locals intervened and pacified them.

Later, Krishank had approached the Kukatpally police and filed a complaint, alleging that false and morphed content targeting his family was being circulated on social media. He sought action against those responsible, naming Rajender in his complaint.

The Congress leader also filed another complaint alleging that Krishank and more than 10 others trespassed into his residence at Dayarguda around 12.45 pm and attacked him. In his complaint, Rajendra Kumar stated that the accused confronted him over sharing “bad news” about Krishank on Facebook, attacked him, snatched his mobile phone away and issued life threats.
