Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Student wing launched a protest campaign against the Musi Rejuvenation project here on Saturday. The campaign was flagged off by former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav from Telangana Bhavan.
The BRS Students teams will tour basthis and colonies along the River Musi bank from today till April 14. About 50 teams have set out on the tour covering the River Musi bank areas.
The BRS students teams will interact with the public, residents and explain to them about all the relevant issues.
Addressing the occasion, BRS Deputy Floor Leader Talasani Srinivas Yadav said the BRS was not against the Musi project. However, the party would not remain silent, if any attempts were made to cause destruction under the pretext of the project, he stressed.
Many people have been residing along the banks of the River Musi for years. Ever since the State government announced the project, they were living in a state of fear and anxiety, he charged.
“The government cannot simply act arbitrarily just because it holds power. It has to convince the people and them into confidence,” Srinivas Yadav said.
The BRS students’ teams would reach out to the public to explain the ground realities of the project. They would expose the government’s exploitative intentions, he stated.
“We will intensify this struggle by involving all sections. Our protest will continue until the government yields to our demands,” Srinivas Yadav said, adding that if required, people from all sections would be mobilized to oppose the government’s actions.
