Peddapalli: BRS district president Korukanti Chander urged the State Election Commission to cancel the Ramagundam Municipal Corporation election and conduct re-polling. In this regard, he gave a representation to District Collector Koya Sree Harsha here on Tuesday. Later, speaking to reporters, he alleged that the ruling Congress party was involved in illegal practices in the election by misusing political power. Besides rigging votes, ballot boxes were also allegedly changed by disconnecting the power supply.
Local MLA Raj Thakur Makkan Singh threatened BRS candidates as well as voters, he alleged. Stating that irregularities had taken place in 43 divisions, he urged the Election Commission to conduct re-polling in those divisions. Expressing doubts over the results, the BRS leader alleged that Congress candidates secured a majority of votes in every ballot box. However, voters who cast their votes for BRS candidates were surprised after seeing the results.
Moreover, on the day of the result, there was no power supply, he said and demanded that officials make public the CCTV footage of the counting process. Since there were doubts about the election as well as the counting process, they were demanding re-polling, he said, adding that the Congress party should also accept their demand. He urged the Collector to conduct re-polling after carrying out a comprehensive inquiry.
