Hyderabad: Scores of women belonging to the BRS party women’s wing on Sunday staged a protest at Petbasheerabad police station demanding immediate arrest of Sai Bageerath, son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay, who is booked in a POCSO case by the police.
The Petbasheerabad police on Friday registered a case against Sai for allegedly behaving inappropriately with a minor girl at a New Year party in Moinabad.
The girl and her parents lodged a complaint with the police and a case under various sections of the POCSO Act was registered against Sai.
The victim had alleged that Sai forced her to consume alcohol and behaved inappropriately after taking out on New Year eve. On Sunday, scores of women gathered at the police station and raised slogans demanding immediate arrest. The women also demanded the Union Minister step down from his position.
The protesting women questioned the lackadaisical attitude of the police in dealing with the case and demanded immediate arrest of Sai Bageerath.
Following the protest demonstration, the police had beefed up security outside the Petbasheerabad police station during the day.
