Hyderabad: Former MLA Gongidi Sunitha and other women leaders of BRS condemned MLC K Kavitha‘s remarks against the party and its president K Chandrashekhar Rao. They said she had not only insulted the party but was also causing mental agony to her father and BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, Sunitha said Kavitha was acting as a puppet at the behest of unseen forces. She questioned Kavitha’s motives, particularly her decision to speak against the party when party legislators boycotted the Assembly on the directions of the BRS chief.
Dismissing Kavitha’s resignation from the MLC post as drama, the former MLA asked why she continued to attend Council proceedings if she had genuinely stepped down. She also questioned Kavitha’s claims of lack of internal democracy, pointing out that she had secured multiple key positions despite electoral defeats, including the MLC post immediately after losing the MP election.
She accused Kavitha of double standards, asking how she opposed the transformation of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) into Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), while renaming her own organisation from Telangana Jagruthi to Bharat Jagruthi.
BRS leaders Tula Uma and Sumitranand said Kavitha was deliberately weakening the party, despite the leadership standing firmly by her during the liquor case. Recalling that senior leaders KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao had stood by her in Delhi, they warned that BRS cadre patience had limits and said such actions would no longer be tolerated under the guise of public outreach programmes.
