Hyderabad: BRSV president Gellu Srinivas Yadav accused the Congress government of neglecting the education sector and demanded the immediate enactment of a fee regulation law to curb exorbitant fee collection by private schools. He also opposed the proposal to reduce government schools under the guise of rationalisation.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Srinivas Yadav alleged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had failed to fulfil his promise of regulating private school fees, leaving parents burdened by rising education costs. He announced that BRSV would submit representations to Mandal Educational Officers across the State on June 20 and raise the issue during public grievance meetings at district collectorates on June 22.
Questioning the government’s education policy, he criticised the proposal to reduce the number of government schools from 27,000 to 4,000 and sought clarity on its implications for rural and tribal students. He also demanded immediate recruitment to fill teacher vacancies through a DSC notification.
BRSV State vice-president Thunga Balu charged the Congress government with weakening the education system and said students from SC, ST, BC and minority communities were facing difficulties due to delays in fee reimbursement. He alleged that educational institutions were withholding certificates from students over unpaid dues and demanded the immediate release of the pending dues.
