Hyderabad: BRSV State president Gellu Srinivas Yadav condemned the arrest of unemployed youth for staging a protest demanding the recruitment of 19,000 police constable posts. He demanded that the government immediately release them and fulfil its electoral promise of filling two lakh government jobs, including vacant constable posts.

After visiting leaders of the Unemployed JAC who were arrested during a protest at the Police Recruitment Board on Monday, Srinivas Yadav said the ruling Congress had betrayed unemployed youth by announcing recruitment for only 5,000 constable posts against 19,000 vacancies. He said peaceful protesters were being targeted with criminal cases instead of addressing their demands.

Questioning the omission of vacancy details from the government’s job calendar, the BRSV leader said the DGP had publicly stated that around 19,000 constable vacancies existed, but the government was proceeding with plans to fill only 5,000 posts.

BRSV leaders Tunga Balu, Kishore Goud and Vidyasagar accompanied Srinivas Yadav during the visit to Nampally Police Station. Among the arrested Unemployed JAC leaders were Aasma, Venkatesh, Ramya and Kiran.
