Telangana builders are urging govt to pay pending bills
Hyderabad: The Builders Association of India (BAI) has urged the Telangana government to release pending payments to contractors within a defined timeframe, stating that prolonged delays have pushed many into financial distress.
In a letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the association highlighted that while neighbouring Andhra Pradesh has cleared all dues to contractors, payments in Telangana continue to be delayed.
The BAI expressed concern that even as the State presents a budget of Rs 3 lakh crore, contractors executing government works are struggling for survival.
According to the letter, the situation is worsening by the day, with several contractors facing severe financial stress. It also claimed that some have reportedly lost their lives due to mounting financial pressure.
The signatories, U. Surendar, State chairman, and D.V.N. Reddy, national vice-president, urged the government to address the issue on priority. They noted that no government can thrive if entrepreneurs who generate employment and contribute to development are pushed into distress.
