Hyderabad: A house burglar was caught while burgling a house at Raithu Colony in Shadnagar here in the wee hours of Wednesday. He was thrashed by the locals and later handed over to the police.
The incident occurred around 3 am when the house owner K Jagan Goud went to his native place to attend a function. The burglar Vijay Kumar, a resident of Amberpet came to the colony on his two-wheeler and targeted the house.
“He sneaked into the compound and broke the main door lock with the help of tools he had brought with him. He opened the almirah and stole valuables in it. The neighbor who was alerted by the sound called the house owner and informed. They also alerted others in the neighbourhood apart from calling the police,” said an official.
Following which, the local residents rushed to the spot and the Blue Colt staff too reached immediately. The locals caught Vijay Kumar and thrashed him before the police arrested him.
The Shadnagar police are investigating.
