Visakhapatnam: Thieves broke open an automated teller machine (ATM) of State Bank of India at Old Dairy Farm area and decamped with cash to the tune of over Rs.7 lakh.
The incident occurred during the wee hours of Thursday and police are trying to nab the culprits with the help of CCTV footage.
A gas cylinder was also found at the place which was left wide open and obviously the thieves had used a gas cutter to break open the chest of the ATM which was replenished with Rs.8 lakh only on Wednesday night.
With the security guard absent, the police summoned the bank personnel to the spot to ascertain the damage.
