An SBI employee in Hyderabad has been booked for allegedly siphoning Rs 23 lakh from ATM cash reserves at the Yousufguda branch. The fraud reportedly came to light during ATM replacement, prompting police to register a case and launch an investigation.

Miyapur police arrested a 24-year-old man while he was attempting to steal from an SBI ATM in Hafeezpet late on Sunday night. Swift action following a Dial-100 alert helped prevent damage, police said.

Jeedimetla police arrested three suspects for ATM burglaries and recovered ₹20 lakh in stolen property. The gang, with a history of over 30 criminal cases, used gas cutters, disabled CCTV, and escaped on stolen bikes after looting Rs 34.71 lakh from an ATM.

"Indian Overseas Bank assures the public that all our ATMs are fully operational. The rumours circulating about ATM closures are false and unfounded", the bank said

The ATM has been installed inside an air-conditioned coach and has successfully undergone a trial run. It enables passengers to withdraw cash while the train is in motion. The initiative is part of Indian Railways’ Innovative and Non-Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme (INFRIS).

According to reports, the incident took place at the SBI ATM in Ravirala village, Maheshwaram. CCTV footage shows four men approaching the ATM center.

Bank officials say the thieves could have taken away about Rs 17 lakh from the ATM.

A bank employee, Murthy found the snake, reportedly belonging to the common krait species, also known as Bengal krait, inside the Indian Overseas Bank ATM at he SCCL head office branch when he opened the machine to load cash.

The miscreants have damaged the ATM and also the CC Cameras installed in the ATM, to avoid getting captured in the cameras.

It is the first public sector bank to launch UPI ATMs, in coordination with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and powered by NCR Corporation, BoB said in a statement.

The one-town Inspector of Police, Swamy in a statement here on Thursday said that the gang with three members from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh States was arrested by the one-town and CCS police on Wednesday.

Axis Bank will not impose any penalty on customers for non-maintenance of minimum balance in their accounts. Additionally, the third largest private sector bank in India will waive off all domestic charges, including debit card and ATM charges.

The driver confessed to committing the crime to lead a lavish lifestyle and after being addicted to consumption of liquor for quite a long time.
