Hyderabad: The Congress government in Telangana has filed police cases against former Digital Media Director Dileep Konatham and BRS social media convenor Manne Krishank, accusing them of fabricating videos and images related to the University of Hyderabad (UoH) green cover in connection with the felling of trees in the disputed Kancha Gachibowli lands.

The move comes amid mounting political tensions over the Kancha Gachibowli tree-felling issue, which has sparked protests from students and activists, besides facing the wrath of the courts.

Dileep Konatham termed the case as another false FIR, alleging that the Revanth Reddy-led government was attempting to silence criticism. “No matter how many cases you file, we will not stop questioning your corrupt and anarchic regime,” he asserted.

Manne Krishank hit back, demanding that a police case be filed against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for allegedly misleading the Assembly about the presence of deer in UoH. He dismissed allegations of creating any videos or images, stating that wildlife and trees exist in UoH which was acknowledged by the Supreme Court itself.

With the Supreme Court already intervening in the matter, opposition voices are accusing the government of using police action to suppress dissent.
