Hyderabad: The Banjara Hills Police have registered a case against BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and around 20 of his followers accusing them of obstructing a police officer from performing his duties and issuing threats. The complaint was lodged by Station Inspector KM Raghavendra following a heated confrontation at the police station on Wednesday.
Huzurabad MLA Kaushik Reddy had reached the police station along with BRS leaders to lodge a complaint against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Intelligence Chief B Shivadhar Reddy, alleging that his phone was being tapped. However, the situation escalated when the MLA noticed Inspector Raghavendra leaving the station.
A verbal altercation ensued, with Kaushik Reddy stating that the police was ignoring his complaint. “The ACP asked me to come to the station at 3 PM, but he left before I arrived. The Inspector refused to accept my complaint,” he told reporters later, demanding an immediate FIR against Revanth Reddy and questioning the inaction of the police.
The BRS legislator criticised the police, citing a recent case filed against BRS leader T Harish Rao based on a complaint by Congress leader Chakradhar Goud. “When a Congress leader complains, an FIR is filed promptly. But when I, an MLA, raise an issue, it is ignored. Such biased behaviour by the police is unacceptable,” he stated.
Warning of serious consequences if his complaint was not acted upon, Kaushik Reddy accused the police of bias. The Inspector, in turn, alleged that the MLA obstructed him from performing his duties and issued threats, leading to the registration of the case.
