Hyderabad: The city-based Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) in collaboration with Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) is conducting a series of training workshops on RT-PCR based diagnostics for SARS-CoV-2 from February to June.
The training will include lectures, demonstrations and hands-on exercises with focus on good laboratory practices and competency acquisition for quality testing. The workshops will go a long way in rapid deployment of lab workforce for diagnostics, which has been the key in country’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Detection by real time RT-PCR remains the gold standard for Covid-19 testing. Reliable RT-PCR testing demands a sound understanding of biosafety principles, molecular methods, competency in procedural skills and scientific and technical understanding in result interpretation,” CCMB officials said.
New lab personnel at RT-PCR labs in need of training to perform the procedure, existing lab personnel in need of a refresher training on RT-PCR testing, clinicians interested in establishing RT-PCR testing labs, lab trainers in need of refresher training and PG students in Life Sciences can apply for the workshop. The CCMB will provide a training certificate to participants after completion of the workshop.
