CCTV to monitor sand quarries, curb illegal transport: Collector
Collector Pamela Satpathy and Police Commissioner Gaush Alam directed TGMDC to install CCTV cameras at sand quarries, checkposts and record rooms to monitor loading, weighing and movement of sand, aiming to curb illegal transportation and storage

Karimnagar: Collector Pamela Satpathy and Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam instructed TGMDC officials to install CCTV cameras at sand quarries to record the loading and weighing of sand. Cameras should also be established in record rooms wherein the details of sand lorries are being recorded. So that illegal transportation of sand would be controlled. The collector along with Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam visited sand quarries, weighting and check posts in Challur of Veenavanka mandal and Pachunur of Manakondur mandal on Monday evening.
They personally examined loading and weighting of sand at Challur TGMDC sand quarry and enquired details by interacting with staff. Earlier, they examined waybills and DDs at Pachunur checkpost. Instructing TGMDC staff to strictly follow government norms while loading sand in lorries, they warned to take serious action if anybody shows negligence in the issue.
They instructed the staff to weigh lorries before and after loading of sand. Moreover, the entry and exit details of each and every lorry engaged in sand transportation must be uploaded in the sand audit App. There was no question of excusing staff if any irregularities took place. Drivers should cover sand lorries with tarpaulins while transporting sand thus that latter would not fell on the road.
Sand should be loaded according to DDs paid by customers, they instructed and warned to register cases if any mistakes were done. Stating that staff of sand quarries should be alert, they said that the district administration would take all steps to check illegal transportation and illegal storage of sand.
