Hyderabad: To maintain sustainable growth in the future, net zero carbon emissions is a necessity for the cement industry. It is imperative for the cement industry to prepare for net zero at the plant level, said Philip Mathew, Chairman, Green Cementech 2021, and Head – Cement Manufacturing Excellence (Asia), LafargeHolcim.

Speaking at a virtual event ‘Green Cementech 2021’, organised by Confederation of Indian Industry together with Cement Manufacturers Association, he said stressed on increased used of alternate fuels, circular economy practices, increasing renewable energy share, and use of green hydrogen.

A publication titled “Energy Benchmarking for the Indian Cement industry” was released. This benchmarking manual is intended to facilitate energy efficiency comparisons among cement plants, leading to subsequent improvements across the industry.
