Karimnagar: TSCAB Chairman Konduru Ravinder Rao alleged that the union government led by BJP, which was selling away all public sector undertakings, was planning to dilute the cooperative sector with anti-farmer bills and anti-farmer policies. Terming the central government Make in India slogan as Becho India (sell India), he called upon the employees to unite to safeguard the interests of the cooperative sector.
Quoting Jawaharlal Nehru, who opened several industries and PSUs, he accused the union government of trying to privatize PSUs. Ravinder Rao was participating as chief guest at the third state-level conference of Telangana cooperative central bank employees association held here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, TSCAB chairman said that before the formation of the Telangana state, the District Cooperative Central Banks (DCCB) were unrecognised and were running losses. However, after the formation of the state, all the DCCBs were making strides and running in profits because of the dedication and teamwork of the employees, he said.
A few months back, the Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar DCCBs were on the verge of closure due to losses. Now they have made a turnaround and were making profits because of the teamwork of the employees. Even during the pandemic, the cooperative sector employees worked for the cause of farmers risking their lives. Though the government had not recognised them as frontline warriors, they worked more than the warriors, he stated.
Referring to the private banks, he said that the private banks were meant to make money and the cooperative banks were meant to serve the people. “We are not greedy to make money. We make business only to get the salaries for the employees”, he pointed out. “The bank and the employees are two eyes and both are important for the institution. If the institution is doing well then automatically the employees will be doing well. We serve the customers as Gods as because of their savings we are surviving”, he noted.
He lauded the employees of Karimnagar DCCB for emerging as a role model in the country and keeping the flag flying high and earning profits to the tune of Rs 68.08 crore during the last financial year. DCCB chairmen’s M Ravinder Rao (Warangal), Ch Devender Reddy (Medak), and K Nagabhushanaiah (Khammam), TSCAB managing director N Muralidhar, TCCBEA chairman K Janardhan Rao, working president A Mallesham, general secretary V Surender, AIBEA national general secretary Venkatachalam, secretary Rambabu and others were also present.
