Centre for Dalit Studies to spearhead national campaign to promote Constitution
To also focus on addressing key issues like private sector reservations, establishment of Scheduled Caste- Tribe Development Fund Act

HYDERABAD: Legal luminaries, social activists and educationalists have resolved to launch a nationwide campaign to promote the Constitution and a multilingual publication ‘The Democrat’ to educate citizens about their rights and duties.
The campaign also focuses on addressing critical issues like private sector reservations, establishment of Scheduled Caste- Tribe Development Fund Act, besides equitable allocation of residential and cultivable land for disadvantaged communities.
This was decided at a seminar ‘Implementation of the Constitution: Challenges in socio-economic progress’ conducted at Centre for Dalit Studies here on Monday and Tuesday.
As part of the campaign, a one-year action plan was also unveiled. Accordingly, focus would be laid on capacity-building programmes for underprivileged youth, modules on Dr Ambedkar Darshan to spread his visionary ideals and collaborative efforts with organisations across the country. To ensure the campaign’s success, a National Dalit Coordination Committee was established under the leadership of Mallepalli Lakshmaiah.
Earlier, nearly 400 members, including legal luminaries, social activists and educationalists participated in the seminar. Former Supreme Court Justice Sudardhan Reddy graced the event as chief guest. Prominent personalities like Prof Haragopal, Prof R Limbadri, Dr Rajashekhar Wunduru, advocate Rajini Soren and others delivered lectures.
