Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday directed ministers and officials to prepare and release detailed progress reports highlighting the achievements of the TDP-led government during its two-year tenure.
Reviewing the proposed ‘Progress Report 2024-26’ with ministers and senior officials at the camp office here, the Chief Minister said the documents should showcase the administration’s performance and communicate its accomplishments effectively to the people.
“The purpose of these reports is not only to explain how the government was brought back on track and how development was accelerated during the past two years, but also to counter fake news and provide people with factual information on governance and welfare initiatives,” Naidu said in an official press release.
He said the reports should serve as action-taken reports on the seven white papers released shortly after the government assumed office in 2024 and explain the measures taken to address issues identified in those documents.
According to officials, the government has prepared reports on a total of 10 subjects. Seven of these are linked to the white papers released earlier on the state’s financial condition, the Polavaram project, Amaravati capital city, the power sector, law and order, mining activities and the excise department.
The Chief Minister said the reports should comprehensively explain how the state, which had allegedly faced several challenges during the previous YSRCP regime, had progressed over the last two years and achieved measurable improvements across various sectors through policy interventions, administrative reforms and focused implementation of development programmes.
In addition to the seven subjects covered in the white papers, the government has decided to release separate reports on development, governance and welfare.
The development report will focus on agriculture, industries, infrastructure and tourism, while the governance report will highlight reforms, policy decisions and innovative administrative practices, the release said.
The welfare and empowerment report will cover welfare schemes implemented by the government, including the Public-Private-People Partnership (P4) initiative and other programmes aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of various sections of society.
Officials said the reports would provide a comprehensive assessment of the government’s performance across sectors.
Naidu said substantial changes had been introduced in multiple departments during the past two years and stressed the need to make people aware of welfare schemes, development projects and governance reforms undertaken by the government since assuming office.
Among the 10 reports, the Chief Minister will personally release reports relating to finance, development, welfare and governance, while ministers will release reports on the remaining six subjects. He instructed officials to prepare a detailed plan to ensure all reports are released by July 18, the release said.
After the release of all reports, Naidu directed officials to compile them into a book for wider public dissemination and future reference, saying progress reports should be published every year to ensure transparency, accountability and public awareness regarding government performance.
The progress report relating to the power sector will be the first to be released on Monday, marking the beginning of the government’s exercise to present a comprehensive account of its achievements and policy initiatives during the first two years of its tenure.
