Siddipet: Dubbak MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy protested over the delay in procuring paddy and other grains from farmers, by squatting on the floor during the “praja palana” programme organised in Dubbak on Saturday.

Prabhakar Reddy lashed out at the Congress government for organising such celebrations while the farmers were suffering due to the delay in purchasing the grains.

He further termed the praja palana celebrations as the celebration of their two-and-a-half years of failure of Congress in ruling the State. Chaos prevailed as a large number of BRS cadres, wearing party scarves, stormed into the meeting hall on Saturday, supporting Prabhakar Reddy.

The police found it difficult to control the BRS cadre as they outnumbered the police. They raised slogans against the Congress government and the district administration. When he tried to address the gathering on the farmers’ issues, the organisers switched off the sound system, and the MLA threw the mike in anger.

Reddy said that they would intensify the protests unless the government purchases every grain of seeds.
