Mahabubnagar: Like former Minister T Jeevan Reddy, who quit the Congress over the party encouraging defections, State Planning Board Vice Chairman G Chinna Reddy has raised objections to the dominance of turncoat MLAs and the priority being given to them by the Congress.
People who had never held the Congress flag in their lifetime were being offered MLA tickets and other key positions in the party, he said. Leaders associated with the previous BRS government were also being given a red carpet welcome, he alleged.
“Is this the Congress party and politics? It happened in Ghanpur as well. I am bearing with all the mistakes. Otherwise, I will have to become another Jeevan Reddy,” Chinna Reddy said while speaking to party leaders at Gopalpet in Wanaparthy on Sunday.
He has been objecting to the induction of Tudi Megha Reddy from BRS into the Congress ahead of the elections.
However, unlike Jeevan Reddy, the State Planning Board Vice Chairman said he would not quit the party. “Congress party is mine and I served it with my blood. I will continue to fight till these turncoats are expelled from the party,” he said emotionally.
Chinna Reddy is known to be a soft-spoken leader and is regarded highly by the party for his close association with the Gandhi family. After being inducted into the Congress, Megha Reddy was given the Wanaparthy MLA ticket, sidelining Chinna Reddy.
“I was denied the ticket after being lured by money. My four-decade political career was thrashed in one stroke, but this would not continue for long. Had I been elected, Wanaparthy constituency would have undergone a metamorphosis,” Chinna Reddy said.
