Yadadri-Bhongir: Choutuppal police arrested two persons and seized 100 kg of ganja worth Rs 12 lakhs and 10 kg of hashish oil worth Rs 30 lakhs from their possession. Five more persons, who have links with the illegal ganja transportation, are absconding.
The arrested were identified as Mohammed Ansar (19), a resident of Kayyar village in Kasaragod district in Kerala and Hassainar (42), who hails from Kinya Post in Mangolore district of Karnataka. Another five accused in the case – Faizal, Kabeer, Murthy, Shaik Abdulla and Noushad, who belong to Kerala and Karnataka, are at large.
Presenting the arrested at a media conference at Choutuppal Police station, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhongir, K Narayana Reddy said that on credible information, the police intercepted a vehicle at Reddibai village in Choutuppal mandal and took two persons travelling in it. They had purchased ganja and hashish oil from a person at Lambasingi in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh and were transporting it to Kerala via Bengaluru.
He said cases were filed against the seven accused under Sections 8 (C) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
