Hyderabad: Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Director CV Anand on Friday said the personnel of Fire and Disaster Management Training Institution (FSTI) of the CISF are playing a crucial role in effectively carrying out rescue operations during major fire accidents.
Participating as the chief guest at the passing out parade and oath-taking of constables of the FSTI, Anand complimented the institute staff and trainees on the occasion. He presented trophies to trainees for their exemplary performance in indoor and outdoor games.
Anand highlighted the unique role played by FSTI in various fire-fighting and rescue operations, saving precious lives and properties. He recalled the fire accidents that occurred in ONGC-Mumbai, LG Polymers at Visakhapatnam and the Srisailam power unit, where the CISF’s fire personnel played a crucial role as first responders and controlled the fire. He praised the fire personnel deployed in 103 units of the total 350 government-owned installations covered by the CISF across the country. He requested the new recruits to maintain the highest standards of discipline and courtesy.
After being recruited to the CISF’s fire wing, the constables underwent training on different aspects, including physical training, weapon handling and security matters, along with fire safety issues. The FSTI imparts training in the core competency area such as fire science, fixed-fire installations, mobile firefighting appliances, hazardous materials and rescue methods.
