Sangareddy: CITU leaders have demanded that the government immediately ensure the release of the Rs 1 crore compensation to the victims of the Sigachi blast. The CITU leaders, along with the kin of those killed in the blast, participated in a protest programme organised at BPL Junction in the Pashamylaram industrial area on Monday, a day ahead of the blast’s first anniversary.
Speaking on the occasion, CITU Pashamylaram Industrial Cluster convenor Athimela Manik said the Sigachi management had paid an average compensation of just Rs 42 lakh each to the families of the 54 deceased, though it had promised Rs 1 crore. He said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who had promised to extend all support to the victims, had failed to ensure that the compensation was released to the kin of the deceased even one year after the blast.
Manik said the injured employees were not being provided treatment and were also being denied their salaries. Stating that multiple industrial accidents were being reported in the Patancheru industrial area every year, the CITU leader demanded that the government put a system in place to ensure proper compensation for the victims. He further asked the government to ensure that industries follow all safety protocols.
