Mahabubnagar: A Class 7 student lost his life after being shifted to three different government hospitals for better treatment. The delay in diagnosing his ailment and extending quality treatment resulted in the student’s death, his parents alleged.
A native of Pebbair in Wanaparthy, the 11-year-old student, identified as Cheguveera, was a Class 7 student at the Government Residential School in Balanagar here. On November 12, the student returned home and complained of sickness. His parents Rajesh and Ramadevi then took him to a doctor, who gave some medicines.
However, as his health deteriorated, the parents approached the Government General Hospital in Wanaparthy. After conducting preliminary tests, the doctors said he had symptoms of dengue fever and provided treatment accordingly.
Unconvinced, the parents visited a private hospital, where the doctors diagnosed the illness as pneumonia. The parents were asked to shift the boy to Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad but due to lack of money, they admitted the patient in the Government General Hospital in Mahabubnagar, according to reports.
After examining the student, the doctors there told the parents that his condition was critical and had to be shifted to Niloufer Hospital. However, after battling for his life while being taken to three different hospitals in 24 hours, the boy breathed his last at Niloufer Hospital in the wee hours of Saturday.
