Karimnagar: District Collector K Shashanka instructed the representatives of Venkataramana Incinerator, which is collecting biomedical waste from hospitals, to collect biomedical waste regularly from private hospitals providing treatment to Covid patients. A comprehensive plan should also be prepared to collect biomedical waste from hospitals every day. A detailed report of biomedical waste collection should be submitted frequently, he said.

The Collector conducted a review meeting with the officials of Pollution Control Board and representatives of Venkataramana Incinerator on Remidisivir injection and biomedical wastage at his camp office here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, Shashanka instructed officials to utilise Remidisivir injection properly while emphasising the need for cooperation between hospitals for sharing of injection.

He instructed the drug inspector to submit the report to the District Medical and Health Officer about the doses of injections being arrived at the district every day. The details of injections being utilised in hospitals should also be informed to the DMHO on a regular basis.

Out of 96 hospitals in the district, 65 hospitals were providing treatment to corona patients. Instructing to separate Covid and non-Covid biomedical waste, he directed hospitals to pay a fee fixed by the Pollution Control Board to Venkatarama Incinerator.
