Hyderabad: The physicians at Yashoda Hospitals, Somajiguda on Friday have advised Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao to take one week complete rest after he had complained of weakness and severe pain in the left arm.

At around 8 am on Friday, the Chief Minister had complained of weakness and severe pain in his left arm. The team of specialist doctors from Yashoda Hospital, Somajiguda including general physician Dr M V Rao and cardiologist Dr K Pramod Kumar, who have been looking after Chief Minister’s health for a long time, rushed to conduct a physical check-up and later decided to shift him to the hospital for diagnostic tests.

The Chief Minister underwent a battery of tests including angiogram, ECG, 2D-ECHO, MRI and CT scans of brain and neck.

“Since he was complaining of weakness and pain in left arm, we conducted an emergency angiogram. There are no blocks in his arteries and his heart function after conducting ECG and 2D ECHO is also normal. The condition of the heart is normal for his age,” Dr Pramod, said.

Dr Rao said that the neck and spinal MRI and CT scans have revealed that Chief Minister was experiencing pain in the left arm due to cervical spondylitis, a general term to describe wear and tear that impacts the spinal disks of the neck.

“Chief Minister reads a lot of newspapers and always keeps checking his Ipad. We suspect that the pain in the left hand might have originated due to this repetitive habit. Moreover, he has been touring a lot and delivering public speeches, which could have resulted in fatigue. As a result, we have advised him to take complete rest for a week,” Dr Rao said.

The attending doctors said that the Chief Minister, who is admitted into the hospital’s day care facility for undergoing angiogram and other tests, will be discharged between 3 pm and 6 pm today.
