Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao conveyed his greetings to women of Telangana State on the occasion of International Women’s Day on Tuesday. He said women were playing an equal role in all sectors of society, on par with men. Terming her role in a family and the society as irreplaceable, he stated that the Telangana government adopted the worldview, vision and humanitarian perspective of a mother who looks after her children, in its governance of the State.
Stating that women are a boon to the human race, the Chief Minister said that the Telangana government was working with a commitment for the women development. Implementing several schemes for the development and welfare of women in the State including Arogya Lakshmi, Amma Vodi, and Aasara pensions, he said the State government has emerged as a ‘Mahila Bandhu’.
The State government has provided financial support for the marriages of 10 lakh young brides under Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes since the State formation, apart from handing over KCR Kits to another 10 lakh mothers. Besides launching SHE teams for protection of women, the salaries of Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers also have been increased significantly after the State formation.
The State government’s efforts for women development are yielding better results, in ensuring socio-economic empowerment of women as well as maintaining gender equality in Telangana, Chandrashekhar Rao said. Telangana is the only State to implement 50 per cent reservations for women in local bodies. He added that the government aims to achieve socio-economic as well as political empowerment of women. Giving the due respect to the women workforce in the government, a special general holiday for all women employees has been declared on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
