CM KCR visits Gandhi Hospital; interacts with Covid patients

During his visit, Chandrashekhar Rao visited the Covid-19 emergency ward, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and also the Out-Patient ward at Gandhi hospital.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao paid a surprise visit to Gandhi Hospital on Wednesday with the primary objective of instilling confidence among Covid-19 patients undergoing treatment in the hospital. During his hour-long visit, the Chief Minister, who himself recovered from Covid-19 recently, interacted with the patients besides getting first hand inputs on the treatment being provided at the hospital. He assured the patients of the best treatment for their speedy recovery.

Chandrasekhar Rao inspected the Covid-19 wards including the general wards, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), emergency and out-patient wards at Gandhi Hospital. He directly interacted with the patients at their bedside, enquired about their health, food and treatment being provided at the hospital. He reassured them that all measures will be taken for their well-being. He also gave instructions to the health officials on the spot to resolve issues brought to his notice.

The Chief Minister also inspected the newly installed oxygen plant at the Gandhi Hospital which produces about 2,000 litres of oxygen per minute. Hospital superintendent Dr Raja Rao explained the functioning of the oxygen plant and its purity levels among other details. He also checked about the availability of adequate oxygen and medicine supplies at the hospital.

Chandrashekhar Rao also interacted with the junior doctors and contract nurses providing medical services to Covid-19 patients at the hospital. He complimented them for their services to Covid-19 patients putting their own lives at risk. He promised to resolve their pending issues and asked the officials to send relevant proposals to initiate steps to address them at the earliest. “Doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff are rendering great services to the people of the State during these difficult times. I am ready to address their issues and provide all necessary support to them to continue their services,” he added.

Finance Minister T Harish Rao, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Secretary for Medical and Health S A M Rizvi, CM Secretary and Special Officer (Covid-19) Rajasekhar Reddy, CM OSD Gangadhar, Director of Medical Education Ramesh Reddy, Gandhi Hospital Superintendent Dr Raja Rao, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar and others were present during the Chief Minister’s visit.
