Nalgonda: After failing to fulfil the promise of filling up two lakh jobs within one year, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy now assures that before completion of the Congress government’s two-and-a-half-year period, one lakh government jobs would be offered to the youth.
The government would initiate measures to ensure unemployed youth get jobs and lead a life with self-respect, he said after formally launching the ration cards distribution programme in Tungaturthy constituency on Monday.
In its Assembly elections manifesto, the Congress party had promised to fill up two lakh government jobs in the first year. It had also promised to release a job calendar with vacancies in all departments by June 2 every year and complete the recruitment process by September 17.
However, the Congress government failed to fulfil these promises made to the youth as part of the Hyderabad Youth Declaration. Instead, the Chief Minister claimed that the Congress government had filled up 60,000 government jobs in one year and set a record in the country.
Coming down heavily on the opposition for alleging that the Congress government had neglected the irrigation sector, he urged engineers and intellectuals to inspect the quality of the Nagarjuna Sagar, Srisailam, and Jurala projects, and the River Musi, which were constructed by previous governments.
He challenged opposition leaders to a debate on the sinking of the Sundilla, Annaram, and Medigadda barrages. “There is nothing wrong in hanging the opposition leaders at these barrages,” Revanth Reddy maintained.
Stating that local body elections would be conducted shortly in the State, he asserted that 42 percent reservations would be implemented for BCs in the elections. The Congress government would take responsibility for ensuring party workers’ victory in the local body polls, he said.
The opposition was unable to stomach the fact that the State government was distributing fine rice, food security cards, offering a RS 500 bonus for paddy, and implementing the farmers’ crop loan waiver scheme. All this was possible only under the Congress government, he claimed.
He said that under the Rythu Bharosa programme, Rs 9,000 crore was deposited into farmers’ bank accounts. Listing out measures taken for women’s welfare, the Chief Minister said the task of recording attendance of teachers in government schools was entrusted to Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
In a vitriolic attack on former Energy Minister G Jagadishwar Reddy, the Chief Minister questioned why the BRS government could not bring River Godavari waters to Tungaturthy.
“Despite the challenges, I promise that River Godavari water will be supplied to Tungaturthy constituency through Devadula package VI,” Revanth Reddy said.
