Hyderabad: It is no secret that the State government, despite several quarters raising doubts over the track record of the Singapore-based Meinhardt Group, handed over the contract for the Musi project master plan to the Meinhardt-led consortium. However, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday triggered questions on whether the same group has been awarded the contract for his Future City project as well. There has been no public announcement in this regard so far.

However, speaking at the ABP Southern Rising Summit here on Friday, the Chief Minister said: “I have appointed an international consultant for Musi riverfront development and my Future City. I wanted to construct a Future City. Why, what is the problem?”

Though the statement came while accusing the BJP of trying to stop development in Telangana by opposing all projects initiated here, it immediately triggered questions and statements, both on the appointment of a consultancy for the Future City project, and also how the Chief Minister was continuing to defend Meinhardt’s appointment for the Musi project. BRS social media convenor Manne Krishank was among those who said the Chief Minister was defending Meinhardt.

“In ABP Summit, CM Revanth defends Meinhardt Company which is absconding in 3000 crore Pakistan scam with a Interpol Red Notice… What’s the problem says CM Revanth…” (sic) Krishank posted on X.
