Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s brother A Tirupati Reddy drew flak from citizens on Wednesday after he declared that the government would not step back from acquiring lands in Lagacherla and surrounding villages for the proposed Pharma Village project. People took to social media platforms, questioning his role in the government for making such statements.
According to videos that are being widely shared on social media, Tirupati Reddy received a warm welcome from Vikarabad district collector Prateek Jain at the Collectorate during the former’s visit on Wednesday. The Collector welcomed Tirupati Reddy with a flower bouquet and took him to his chambers where the duo discussed about the Lagacherla incident.
Speaking to reporters later, Tirupati Reddy said he paid a courtesy visit to the district collector following the attack on his vehicle. He declared that there was no stepping back from acquiring the lands, notwithstanding the opposition. He attributed the unrest in Lagacherla to a BRS conspiracy, holding BRS working president KT Rama Rao and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao responsible for it.
“Not just pharma industries, we are planning to establish numerous other industries in the area for its development. Those who are obstructing development of the area, will not be spared,” he asserted.
In response, KT Rama Rao took a sharp dig at Tirupati Reddy, labeling him as the “De facto Chief Minister of Telangana.” He said Tirupati Reddy, who is the “Shadow MLA” of Kodangal, was now calling the shots in Kodangal, declaring the government’s intent to forcibly acquire thousands of acres of land belonging to poor farmers at any cost.
Taking to X, Rama Rao sarcastically welcomed the Congress-mark democracy and jibed at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, stating, “Good going Bhai Rahul Gandhi,” implying how the State’s governance had transformed into a family-run affair.
