Hyderabad: As part of the ‘Walk Free’ initiative under the encroachments on footpaths drive, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Saturday removed 313 encroachments across 15 identified stretches covering a total length of 17.95 km, and reclaimed roads, footpaths and public spaces for public use.

A press release said that in the Serilingampally Zone, the drive covered 8.5 km and 106 encroachments were removed. In the Kukatpally Zone, officials covered 2.6 km by removing 53 encroachments. In the Quthbullapur Zone, the drive covered 6.85 km and 154 encroachments were removed.

CMC officials said that teams are regularly monitoring the cleared stretches to prevent re-encroachment and to ensure reclaimed roads, footpaths and public spaces remain free from obstructions and available for public use.

They said that the ‘Walk Free’ initiative will continue across the CMC limits with regular enforcement and monitoring to improve pedestrian accessibility and maintain obstruction-free public spaces.
