Mancherial: A coal miner died on the spot when he fell from a man-riding machine while returning from the worksite of an underground mine of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) in Mandamarri late on Monday. The incident came to light on Tuesday.

Laxman (33), a coal cutter, suffered grievous head injuries when he slipped from the machine, resulting in his instantaneous death . He is survived by wife and two children.

Meanwhile, trade unions alleged that Laxman would have survived had the SCCL management provided him with a stretcher in the mine. They regretted that coal miners were working under poor safety measures.

They demanded that the coal major take steps to improve safety for miners and save lives of the workforce.
