Mancherial: A 57-year-old coal miner was killed on the spot when a lorry rammed into his motorcycle at RK-5 underground mine in the coal belt town of Srirampur on Friday.

Srirampur Inspector B Koteshwar said the deceased was Suraiah, a native of Mandamarri and an employee of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL)’s timber yard in Srirampur.

Suraiah received fatal head injuries when the truck coming from the opposite direction hit his two-wheeler near RK5 mine, resulting in instantaneous death for him. He was on his way to work at the timber yard.

On coming to know about the incident, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to a government hospital.

Based on a complaint lodged by the family of the deceased, a case was registered against the driver of the lorry and investigations were taken up.
