Adilabad: Timings of schools were revised considering cold weather prevailed in the district. An order to this effect was issued by Collector Rajarshi Shah here on Wednesday.

According to the order, the schools would open at 9.40 am instead of 9.15 am and conclude at 4.30 pm in place of 4.15 pm in order to ensure safety and wellbeing of students. Headmasters and headmistresses were instructed to implement the revised timings till further orders. Non-compliance with this directive will be viewed seriously, the order read.

Adilabad district’s minimum temperature has been hovering around 6 degrees Celsius for the past few days, forcing people to remain indoors till 10 am. In particular, Arli (T) village in Bheempur and Bela mandal are reeling under severe cold conditions with minimum temperatures dropping to 5.9 degrees C.

The chilly weather conditions are affecting farm operations such as harvesting the cotton and paddy. Farmers are struggling to find laborers to take up the jobs. They are covering cattle with sweaters made of jute to keep their bodies warm. Elderly persons and children are unable to handle to the freezing cold weather.
