Karimnagar: Medical and Health Secretary Syed Ali Murthuja Rizvi instructed doctors to conduct 300 Covid tests in every Primary Health Center every day till zero Covid cases were recorded in the State.
“Covid has not completely been controlled in the State and there is a possibility for the third wave. So, doctors and people should be alert”, he said while conducting a review meeting with doctors from the district in Huzurabad area hospital on Monday.

Health secretary instructed doctors to carry out fever survey and supply Covid kits to the people suffering with virus symptoms. Patients should be monitored regularly for five days. Positive patients should be admitted in isolation centres. Instructing to carry out Covid tests to 25 primary contacts of positive patients, he asked doctors to speed up the vaccination process. Details of positive patients should also be informed to doctors of PHCs. Officials of all departments as well as doctors should work with coordination to check the virus.
It was necessary to educate people about wearing face masks, washing hands and maintaining physical distance, he added.
Highest number of Covid cases were registered in April, May and June months in the State. And, there was a drastic decline in cases due to enhancement of tests and continuation of Out Patient services in PHCs, the Medical and Health Secretary said.
Based on Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s instructions, we are visiting the district, he said and added that Huzurabad was witnessing a spike in Covid cases.
Since children were likely to be affected in the third wave, doctors were asked to arrange adequate beds along with all facilities such as oxygen and ICC. Stating that there was no shortfall for oxygen, he informed that RTPCR labs were established in all hospitals.
Public Health Director Dr Srinivas Rao, Medical Education Director Dr Ramesh Reddy, TSMSIDC Managing Director Chandrashekhar Reddy, CMO OSD P Gangadhar, District Collector K Shashanka, MCK Commissioner Valluru Kranthi, DMHO Dr Zuveria and others participated in the review meeting.
