Nalgonda: Coming down heavily on Congress leaders, BRS MLC K Kavitha held them responsible for decades of pollution in the Musi River. She stated that even now, they were turning the Musi River into their ATM for siphoning funds to Delhi through the much-touted Rejuvenation Project.

Speaking to the media at Bhongir on Wednesday, Kavitha said the Musi Riverfront development and rejuvenation was initiated by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao with plans to spend Rs 25,000 crore, including the establishment of 31 sewage treatment plants (STPs) along the Musi River, to reduce its pollution.

However, she said the Congress government had not only inflated the estimates from Rs 50,000 crore to Rs 1.5 lakh crore, but was also falsely claiming credit for the STPs by inaugurating three of them.

“This is a conspiracy to benefit contractors and also fill the pockets of the Congress leaders. The government is neglecting cost-effective solutions like linking Kondapochamma Sagar to Musi River for Rs 1,700 crore, initiated by the previous BRS government, and is instead opting for an expensive Rs 7,500 crore linkage via Mallanna Sagar,” she said.

The BRS MLC also condemned the Congress government’s demolition of houses in Musi River basin areas. She said while the K Chandrashekhar Rao government eradicated the fluoride problem in erstwhile Nalgonda district and ensured a reliable and safe water supply for the people under Mission Bhagiratha, the Congress never established even a water purification plant in the area over decades of its governance.

Reacting to the recent attack on the BRS district office in Bhongir, Kavitha warned the Congress against targeting BRS leaders or its offices. She reminded that the BRS is a strong force with over 60 lakh members, and if they responded unitedly, the Congress will have no room to roam in Telangana. She asserted that any further attacks on the party offices or its leaders will be met with resistance.

“We fight with integrity, commitment and wisdom, not with violence or rowdyism like the Congress,” she added. She demanded the Congress government to fulfil the pending promises and protect the glory of the Yadadri temple.

In response to the Chief Minster calling the BRS an affiliate of the RSS, Kavitha came down heavily on him stating that both the Congress and the BJP are one in Telangana and the entire world knows about it.

She stated that if the Congress is fake, the BJP is deepfake. She also criticised the Congress government for not accommodating a Muslim leader and a Lambada leader in the State Cabinet even a year after the new government was formed.
