Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao termed internal conspiracies within the Congress responsible for the rejection of the nomination of its party in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan in the Rajya Sabha election. He said the Congress party’s internal conspiracies, leadership failures and governance collapse have exposed the true nature of the ruling party before the people of Telangana.
In an informal interaction with mediapersons at his Nandinagar residence here on Friday, Rama Rao felt that the Congress leadership should investigate who leaked details of the case against Meenakshi Natarajan to BJP leaders. He said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who frequently constituted Special Investigation Teams (SITs), should order an inquiry into the matter. He also suggested that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi identify the black sheep within his party and initiate action against those who worked against her.
“What happened with Meenakshi Natarajan is wrong. The Election Commission wronged her. One thing is accepted in Jharkhand and, on the other side, Meenakshi Natarajan’s plea is rejected. The Congress too has wronged her, given the reports of a conspiracy against her by Telangana Congress leaders,” he said.
He said Congress leaders who opposed Meenakshi Natarajan within the Telangana Congress were behind the episode. “Congress alone is responsible for Meenakshi Natarajan’s defeat,” he said, questioning attempts to drag the BRS into the Congress party’s internal affairs. Citing senior Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir, he said the former Minister merely spoke the truth about party positions allegedly being influenced by money and power. He described Revanth Reddy as a renewal Chief Minister whose continuation in office depends on satisfying the Congress high command.
Only a mentally disturbed person would glorify Hitler
The BRS working president condemned Revanth Reddy’s recent remarks declaring German dictator Adolf Hitler as an inspiration. He said glorifying Hitler or speaking positively about wartime destruction indicated a mentally disturbed mindset. He remarked that the people of Telangana would politically bury the Congress party under the very ruins that Revanth Reddy spoke about.
He also found fault with IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu for defending the Chief Minister’s comments despite being an educated and experienced leader. He said he felt sorry for the Minister and other Congress leaders who were in an unavoidable situation of defending their Chief Minister.
Revanth Reddy’s Rs 200-crore palace
Rama Rao questioned the lack of transparency in the Congress government’s financial management, accusing it of neglecting welfare commitments, including pensions and fee reimbursement, while spending heavily on lavish facilities. He criticised the construction of a Rs 200-crore palace for the Chief Minister at MCR HRD Institute and three lavish bungalows for Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka in Hyderabad, Khammam and Madhira, besides the purchase of helicopters and other extravagances.
