Congress and BJP piggybacking on regional parties after losing sheen: KTR
He criticized the Congress party for failing to emerge as a strong opposition in the country and accused it of attempting to undermine regional parties
Hyderabad: Responding to the outcome in the Maharashtra and Jharkhand election results, Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao on Saturday emphasized the significance of regional parties in Indian politics. He criticized the Congress party for failing to emerge as a strong opposition in the country and accused it of attempting to undermine regional parties.
He asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was surviving only due to the Congress’s incompetence, with both national parties relying on the hard work and commitment of regional parties. He highlighted this as a recurring theme in Indian politics saying that both the national parties were ‘shamelessly piggybacking on regional parties’ hard work and commitment’. In a direct message to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, he advised him to focus on his primary duties as CM. He pointed out that despite extensive campaigns, speeches, and resources, Revanth Reddy’s party faced significant setbacks in Maharashtra. He urged the Chief Minister to deliver on the six guarantees promised to the Telangana public over a year ago.
In Maharashtra, despite the Congress spending Rs.300 crore of Telangana taxpayers’ money on false advertisements, the public in Maharashtra did not believe the lies peddled by the Congress. Pointing out tat the Congress had promised Rs.3,000 in Maharashtra, he said it did this despite failing to deliver Rs.2,500 to 1.6 crore women in Telangana. The Congress promises in Maharashtra, which it failed to deliver in Telangana, had exposed its double standards, he said, also pointing out the hypocrisy in the Congress stance on Adani, labeling him a fraud in Maharashtra while maintaining business ties with him in Telangana.
Highlighting the the complete rejection by the people of the Congress in Maharashtra, he said in Jharkhand, the Congress could not independently form a government and had to rely on regional party JMM. This inability to independently form State governments demonstrates Congress’ diminishing political strength, he said.
Rise of regional parties to continue
Emphasizing that the future of Indian politics belonged to regional parties, Rama Rao noted that the Maharashtra and Jharkhand election results reflected the growing dissatisfaction with national parties like BJP and Congress and highlight the importance of respecting regional aspirations. Congratulating Hemant Soren for his victory in Jharkhand, he said the growing prominence of regional forces was crucial for federalism and development of States. The election results in both Maharashtra and Jharkhand demonstrate that people will stand by regional forces when national parties attempt to suppress them, he added.
Expressing optimism about the continued rise of strong regional leaders like BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao, who prioritize development and federalism, he said such leaders would play a significant role in shaping the future of the country while ensuring the growth and development of States.
