Hyderabad: Describing as historic, the decision to provide 42 per cent reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud said the community would be indebted to the Congress party for the decision.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Saturday, Goud stated that only Congress party had sincerely worked for BC empowerment.
He recalled his earlier role as party’s working president when the BC Declaration was announced in Kamareddy, reaffirming the party’s long-standing commitment to the welfare of backward communities. “BCs have now reached a stage where they are asserting their rightful share,” he said.
Coming down heavily on the BJP, the TPCC president accused the party of lacking genuine concern for backward communities. “The BJP’s intent is exposed as it handed over the party State president’s post to an upper caste person by deceiving the BCs,” Mahesh Kumar Goud charged.
