Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had betrayed people of Telangana including farmers without delivering key electoral promises, especially on the Rythu Bharosa investment support and other welfare schemes. He said Revanth Reddy’s tenure, where pressing issues were being ignored, was marked by false promises and deceptive governance.
Participating in the Dasara Sammelan programme organised by former MLA Manchireddy Kishan Reddy with the party cadre at Ibrahimpatnam on Sunday, Rama Rao pointed out that the Congress which promised to hike Rythu Bharosa amount from Rs 10,000 per acre per annum to Rs 15,000, failed to provide even the existing amount to farmers for the Kharif season.
“Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao had only worsened the situation, coldly stating that there were no funds to provide investment support for farmers, leaving them in the lurch,” he said. He stated that the Congress failed to provide promised bonuses, loan waiver or job opportunities. He reminded that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had cautioned during elections about the false promises of the Congress.
Stating that the BRS also stood for Bharatiya Rythu Samithi and would continue to fight on behalf of farmers, the BRS working president wondered why various farmers unions, organisations and also the Left parties were remaining silent over the injustice done to farmers. He also questioned the silence of intellectuals on protests by government job aspirants especially regarding injustice to SC, ST and BCs in terms of reservations through GO 29 brought by the Congress government.
He took a dig at the Congress leaders including Revanth Reddy, for spending more time in Delhi than addressing issues in Telangana. “Revanth Reddy visited Delhi 25 times, but did not get 25 paise for the State in the last 11 months. They made big claims but delivered nothing. Farmers are struggling, there’s no assurance, and they have reneged on every major promise, including Rythu Bharosa and Dalit Bandhu,” he remarked.
“This government is all talk, with nothing to show for its time in office,” he said.
